The Roots of Retreat to Your Root

Spring 2017 Retreat to Your Root group at Sagrada Retreat Center

It's been about a year and a half since the concept of "Retreat to Your Root (RTR): A Yoga for Pelvic Health Retreat" came into my awareness.  The idea sprang from my Yoga for the Pelvic Floor program which I had been implementing in the clinic with my patients and after attending 3 yoga retreats in a 3 month time period.  I knew I wanted to spread the word about yoga for pelvic health to a larger audience and I had just experienced the immense benefits of retreating away from normal life to immerse into a healing experience.  As the concept developed my mission and goals for RTR emerged.  With two retreats under my belt (...pun intended), one coming up in the fall, and at least 3 in-store for 2018 the mission has grown and the benefits have revealed themselves.

I want to share my mission with you as RTR has become an aspect of my personal and professional life which I feel most passionate about and feel incredibly grateful to be able to offer.

Mission Statement for Retreat to Your Root
I gracefully and humbly offer Retreat To Your Root as:

1. An opportunity for women (and men one day soon!) to connect with other individuals who have experienced difficulties or questions related to their "root".  The "root" here refers to one's pelvis, pelvic floor, reproductive system, gastrointestinal or urinary tracts, low back/hips/abdomen, root/sacral/solar chakras, balance of masculine and feminine energies, and/or one's sexuality.

2. A safe place for in-depth education and immersive yoga-based experiences exploring all aspects of the pelvic floor.  These experiences include yoga asana (physical postures), breath-work, meditation, lecture, time in nature, conversations around the dinner table, and sharing our stories.

3. A unique space for healing to take place on the mind, body, and soul levels with the pelvic floor serving as the basis for this healing.

4. An opportunity to dive into self-care in a deeply nourishing environment.

5. A supportive community of open-minded individuals with a variety of experiences related to the pelvic floor, who can lend support to each other in heart-centered ways.

6. A way to invite healing into one's body and life through connecting with nature and their roots (Mother Earth and literally where we all come from, our ancestors).

7. A multi-disciplinary experience where one can be uniquely heard, explore the depths of one's body, psyche, and soul, and leave feeling empowered in a whole new way.

If any piece of this resonates with you, I'd love to offer you a spot on my fall Retreat to Your Root outside of Boston, MA.  I'll be co-leading with Dustienne Miller, MPT from Your Pace Yoga and we have an amazing weekend planned.  If the east coast doesn't work for you, make sure to check out my events for upcoming workshops and retreats!
